The family moved to CGS quarters in Wadala, Mumbai, when she was 5 years old. It is here she is interested in acting. Anushka Shetty is an Indian actress in Tamil and Telugu film industry.

Anushka Shetty was born in a f Tulu speaking family in Mangalore. Sh e completed schooling and college in Bangalore. She was also a yoga teacher and has trained at yoga guru Bharat Thakur. She speaks Telugu, Hindi and Tamil well.

Film Career:

Anushka Shetty made her debut as an actress in 2005 Puri Jagannath’s Telugu movie ‘Super’ opposite Akkineni Nagarjuna. In the same year she was acted in another film “Mahanandi”, which was a failed film. In 2006, she had four releases,the first one is SS Rajamouli's “Vikramarkudu” with opposite Raviteja as Neeraja Goswami.

The film has a very successful and received much recognition and she became very popular in Andhra Pradesh. Then she starred in the film “Astram”, which is remake of 1999 Hindi film Sarfarosh. After this she made debut in Tamil film industry, with Sundar c-directed action film “Rendu”, staarred with R. Madhavan. Later that year she made a guest appearance in tA.R Murugadoss directorial debut in Telugu, “Stalin”.

Her first release in 2007 was Lakshyam, after which she having the lead actres role in Raghava Lawrence's “Don” opposite Nagarjuna, which is very well at the box office.In 2008 she appeared in 6 films a total, Okka Magaadu was the first movie , in which she played one of the three female lead roles.

Her Subsequent releases “ Swagatam” with Jagapati Babu and Bhumika Chawla and “Baladur” with Ravi Teja again , got bad previews and box office returns. Then she appeared in the film “Souryam” cast with Gopichand again, which was a blockbuster.

In 2009, Anushka first starred in film “Arundati”. This film was a heroine oriented film in which she played first time two roles, it was a big commercial success. Her performance as Jejamma was highly acclaimed particularly and fetched her first Nandi award . Her next film, action movie “Billa”, a remake of the Tamil namesake, 2007, itself a remake of 1978 Hindi film Don, featured anushka in a role entirely contrast to the role of Arundati.

Final release in 2009 was the second Tamil film “Vettaikkaran” starred with Vijay and was successful. In 2010 she acted in Tamil film “Singam” and in Telugu films “Vedam”,” Panchakshari”, “Kaleja” .
